Reiner Moll, born in 1947, studied industrial design under Prof. Karl Dittert and Prof. Nuss at the Hochschule Schwäbisch Gmünd. This is where he set up the “moll design” office in 1971 which worked for Dornbracht, Philips AEG Licht, Villeroy & Boch and Wolf Heiztechnik, to name but a few. moll design won many awards at home and abroad, including the award from the Design Centre North-Rhine/Westphalia in 1991 as “Design Team of the Year”. For Wilkhahn, Moll developed Binar (1979-1990), a technologically innovative multi-purpose chair range with a comfortable seat shell in blow-moulded plastic that simply clipped into an ingeniously designed steel tube frame.
