MAGGIORI INFORMAZIONI SU RATAPLAN ARCHITEKTUR ZT GMBH
Profile
RATAPLAN, established in 1993, is a non-hierarchical office community. Drafts and concepts are developed collectively.
RATAPLAN is stylistically open - each project may differ in form - emphasis is rather on the context and uniqueness of a project.
As approaches to architecture vary within the rataplan group, so do projects. Enrichment and variety is achieved by involving fe/male artists such as musicians and graphic artists.
From day one, RATAPLAN has been changing gradually from an architectural office with homogenous group structure to an open platform for works in creative areas, putting special emphasis on social and political aspects. Important clients are institutions that work on improving production conditions for creative people, as for example:
literaturhaus wien - representation of writers
mica (music information center) - promotion of Austrian music and musicians
unit-f (office for fashion) - platform for fashion designers
These projects were developed in co-operation with its users and carried out in spite of low budgets.
In the field of residential building, for example, the renovation of a house for a group of owners, partly financed by the city of Vienna, was realized keeping in mind ecological and social aspects.
RATAPLAN worked on housing projects in Vienna, a project for the conversion of an autonomous event center (the arena wien) and an administrative centre in Teltow (near Berlin, Germany) in between 1998 – 2008. Nearly all of rataplan's important projects originate in a tension of social and economic factors - the design strategy is developed from the specific situation.
In the years 2009 – 2011 RATAPLAN finished the „Landesmuseum“ in St. Pölten as well as the Office and Residential Building Neutorgasse, in the first district of Vienna.
