Kwerk opus II, fresh from its conquest of Paris, is undoubtedly the best workplace around. With its offices, chairs and private workspaces for two, three, five and eight people; its seated and standing tables, high-speed Wi-Fi network, plug sockets, coffee machines and kitchens on each floor; its multiple terraces, 24/7 access for members, conference rooms and scanner-photocopiers, Kwerk has everything you could wish for in a co-working space. But above all, Kwerk is a place of exceptional inspiration.

It’s a place of pure possibility, a place to meet anyone and everyone, to grow your business and your network, to broaden your mind, to be creative and to write the next chapter in your professional career. In short, Kwerk will propel you to the top of your field, and to help you get there, our space will transform as required from a gallery to a museum, from the backroom of an antique store to an elegant cabinet of curiosity. Big dreams require open minds – and that’s where Kwerk comes in.

The inspiration

Following on from the opening of their initial 750m2 co-working space in Boulogne in 2015, Kwerk then took on a building of 2200m2 in the 8th arrondissement in Paris. Identical to the first venture in its free-flowing, elegant and flexible style, this new workspace affirms the company’s ambitions and stands as a flagship for the brand. Drawing inspiration from their travels to the four corners of the globe, the creative duo have created their ideal place of work.

The experience brings together the design of a boutique hotel and the décor of a theatre or gallery. As in a boutique hotel, each floor is unique and comfort is a priority. The relaxing, in-house gym is equipped with cardio-training machines, as well as changing rooms, individual showers and an adjoining yoga studio. The building’s reception desk and telephone booths all echo the style of a classic theatre, with red curtains that match the red carpet of the stairway and the hundreds of red books that line the shelves of the large conference room.

Finally, great display cases in the main lobby house a selection of enigmatic works of art (see “What’s it all about?” – page 10), while one of the terraces is given over as an exhibition space. Even in the yoga studio, an evocative set of worry beads explores the relationship between art and artistry. Many of the furnishings in the workspace were custom-designed by Albert Angel and built abroad and locally, where the utmost care is taken to ensure comfort and quality.

The vision Reinventing the workplace and rethinking the experience

Reinventing the Workplace by Lawrence Knights

“Co-working is one of the vectors of the digital revolution, which is ushering in a more connected, collaborative and open economy. The way we work is changing dramatically and the workplace is becoming more and more of a living space. A place of work, given the amount of time we spend there, should be comfortable, inspiring and original. With this in mind, it’s my belief that the co-working sector will continue to grow in the office space industry, going from 5% to 10% of market share. Our aim is to make Kwerk and enduring key player in this market, first in the Paris area, then in France and ultimately across the globe. Our spaces, which combine the worlds of travel, art and well-being, are perfect for dynamic businesses and independent professionals alike.”

Rethinking the Experience by Albert Angel

“For too long, office spaces have been organised according to flowcharts of corporate structure, following functional, rational and even legal guidelines. Office spaces have become the poor relation of design! But I believe it’s high time for this mould to be broken, for the working day to be reimagined as a series of distinct experiences rather than a block of eight to ten hours spent in the same spot. You’re sat behind a desk. You go for a meeting in the lounge, laptop perched on crossed legs. You find some privacy for a call in a phone booth. You take a break on the terrace to swap ideas. You let off steam with a run at the gym. You get a massage. I want those moments to be full of beauty and inspiration.”
