The Stones of Time, in the Name of the Family
a project designed by Bassam EL-OKEILY with Atelier SEDAP lighting solutions.
On a hillside vineyard close to Bordeaux, the architect Bassam El-Okeily built his twin brother a home inspired by the different times of the existence and generations cohabitation.
The childhood, adulthood and old age, explains Bassam showing the three elements of the house, called House of the Time Stones.
The living space for children looks at the earth.
Connected by the kitchen, the adult and the community life spaces looks at the river and the skyline.
On the top, a stone from the past, the grandparents’ residence overlooks the buildings…
Bassam El-Okeily.
Multicultural and visionary, Bassam El-Okeily achieved his professional training at Christian de Porzamparc’s office before graduating from the Special Architecture School in Paris.
Demanding with himself and his ideal, the architect classifies projects into two categories:
Jobs bringing everyday food
Jobs achieving his dreams.
His twin brother’s house is clearly part of the second category: “for me, the house is a family temple; a temple we think over time, with notions of time and refuge” Bassam says.
Why choosing the Atelier SEDAP recessed lighting fixtures?
A completely white and luminous living place, such were Bassam’s objective for this “Dream Job”.
Using MiniBlade and MicroBlade Circles by Atelier SEDAP open limitless possibilities.
Profiles made of glass-reinforced plaster and produced by Atelier Sedap in France exclusively with plaster of Paris (high quality plaster), MiniBlade and MicroBlade Circles are designed to be easily recessed in plasterboard walls and ceilings, thanks to an optimal shallowness (55mm).
Seamless finish + continuous lighting
The use of plaster enables a perfect and invisible jointing with plasterboard.
The use of high-efficiency LED strips creates a low energy, continuous lighting.
Technical details:
The high powered LED strips have excellent light output / energy consumption ratio.
The profiles are designed to offer both a perfect diffusion and an optimal regularity of the LED light.
Ecological aspects
The Atelier Sedap plaster meets the environmental standards.
Plaster preparation is achieved with low temperatures, thus reducing the emission of CO2.
