Residence in Aloney Abba

The Aloney Abba residence is in a natural oak tree forest in Izrael valley.

Choice of stone masonry was influenced by the old Templar style buildings, typical to the region, and by regional planning council policy.

Topographical location and the unique local scenery were a prime factor in the design objectives.
Double height space, placed at the house center, creates a connection between the courtyard at ground level and the unique scenery viewed from the first floor.

The house is located in Alonei Abba forest, Emek Izrael. The aim was to make the house an integral part of the special topography and the breath taking panoramic view of the valley.

Main Floor – includes an entrance hall, the living room, the Kitchen and in a lower level the Study and a studio. The Panoramic terrace runs the width of the house, covering the whole front of the main floor.

The planning and the design challenges were to integrate between the main floor that has a breath taking panoramic view, and the ground floor that has the beautiful garden.

The double height space with the bottom part serving as a family area, and the upper part as the house main entrance, creates a simultaneous exposure to both the outside view and the lower inner court.

Ground floor is composed of a master bedroom, a shower, a walking closet, 2 bedrooms with mutual shower, family area and service room. Exit from master bedroom to the open air Jacuzzi and an exit from the bedroom to the courtyard

Slanted, pyramid shaped ceiling defines and connects the living area main space dining area and family room on the lower floor. The ceiling intensifies the outside viewing experience. The wood cladding is used to emphasis the ceiling unique shape.

The western porch that wraps the house creates an optimal climate, by allowing sea breeze and shade to invade the inner space.

Outer wall cladding with local limestone carved in templar style, typical of the region. Cladding the staircase wall in stone is chosen in order to emphasize the connection between the upper level and the courtyard. Smoked Oak finish parquet covers the pyramid shaped ceiling of the main space. Rusted finish was chosen for metal parts including windows and entrance door. Aluminum cupboards.
