CC Moment is a Western restaurant in Shenzhen, its full name is “Capture Candlelight Moment”. In this project, “candle” is used as the main theme of this design. Candle light symbolizes life, warmth, and celebration which are always found in different celebrations like birthday, anniversary and gatherings.

The practice of lighting up other candles with the first lighted candle is a metaphor of the connection between a group of people dining together which they light up each other with joy and happiness. It is designed to create a peaceful and joyful dining environment for customers to enjoy their moment in the restaurant.

Inspired by candlelight in the darkness, the main color tones of this design are black and yellow. Just as how candlelight can’t shine without darkness, black color has made yellow more prominent, as well as highlighting the candles in the design. Apart from the yellow candles, most of the other furniture and decorations are in black or gray.

In order to convey the theme of “candle”, candle-like lights are placed randomly around the restaurant. Some are installed vertically on the ground to act as a fence to separate tables to provide privacy to the customers. Some are hung upside down from the ceiling while some are installed horizontally from the wall, so that the customers can have a dining experience surrounded by warm candlelight.

We deliberately included a bookshelf in our design. More than merely a decoration, the bookshelf actually carries quite a number of books that customers can freely borrow. We want to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere where customers can read under the gentle candlelight.

The floor pattern of the entire restaurant is constructed by stone patchworks, a combination of marble and tile. Different shades of gray and black are adopted, to imitate the flickering shadows created by candlelight.

Apart from the main dining area, there are also two function rooms in the restaurant, namely Kid Zone and General Party Room. They can be used separately or combined into one big party room. The tables and chairs are all movable; so the restaurant may rearrange the seating freely, mix and match black and yellow furniture to match with the theme of the party. Such flexibility is especially important to cater to the needs of different customers.

The variety in the styles of different zones in the restaurant enables customers to enjoy a different dining experience in each visit. Ultimately, the designers attempt to create a dining space in which customers can dine with their loved ones comfortably, where they are so happy that they are reluctant to leave, and will come back again and again.
