A client of pfeffermint AG had the opportunity to take over a restaurant space in a bustling area of Zurich. For this project, they secured a renowned sushi chef and decided to open a sushi bar.
While the existing interior was of high quality, it didn't align with the food concept. The prominent marble counter was clad with simple birch plywood to reflect the simplicity and authenticity of Japanese cuisine. The dark red base color beautifully highlights the light birch wood.
The spacious counter was retained, but new seating was added at the bar, allowing guests to watch the preparation of sushi creations. Bar stools with woven seats contribute to the restaurant's natural and handcrafted charm.
For the central seating area, Pfeffermint AG designed custom stools that perfectly complement the tables with linoleum surfaces and oak edges. Simple benches along the large window fronts complete the seating variety and wonderfully connect the interior with the exterior during summer. A small take-away area at the entrance rounds off the restaurant concept.
Outside, simple plastic stools bring the flair of Asian street food culture to Zurich. The traditional Japanese Noren curtain, printed with a distinctive logo using the screen-printing technique, adds an authentic touch to the restaurant entrance.
