THE BRITISH SCHOOL OF VILNIUS: BETWEEN TRADITION AND MODERNITY
A bathroom collection for kids by Villeroy&Boch
The British School of Vilnius (BSV) was opened in August 2019 for children aged 2 to 9 years. Located on a new purpose-built campus in one of the most popular residential areas near the Old Town of Vilnius, it is the first international school in Lithuania to follow the English National Curriculum.
“The British education system is regarded as exemplary, unique and globally recognised. The British School of Vilnius combines the best of British education with international flair and offers our students a variety of opportunities that will help them develop a true love of learning," said Andrew Prosser, Headmaster of BSV.
ROOM FOR CREATIVE LEARNING
The BSV strives to promote the creativity, critical thinking and open-mindedness of its students. The school’s architecture and interior design support the vision of inspiring each child, supporting them individually and giving them the best start in life. The rooms are designed in such a way that the transition from playing to learning is almost imperceptible.
The buildings and the interior meet the highest international quality standards in terms of hygiene and building regulations, fire protection requirements, sound and lighting.
"In the course of the project, all these requirements were thought through in detail and finally put together as a kind of puzzle, balancing vision, desires, possibilities and requirements," the headmaster continued.
DESIGN AND FUNCTIONALITY
The school was equipped to meet the needs of students of different age groups, as well as ergonomic and ecological aspects. The materials for the WC rooms – like the rest of the school's facilities – have been carefully selected to meet hygiene and environmental requirements, be durable, practical and pleasant to look at. Another important aspect was the need of the children to feel comfortable and safe.
VILLERY & BOCH SANITARY PRODUCTS FOR SCHOOLS
According to the architects of the 2XJ studio, who designed the interior of the school, Villeroy&Boch’s collection O.Novo Kids was an excellent choice for this project because of its uniqueness and compatibility of elements – plus, it is perfectly in line with the BSV concept.
“The wall-mounted toilets with colourful lids, the height-adjustable washbasins for children of all ages and the fittings with multi-coloured handles added an extra touch to the school's vision of toilet rooms,” said 2XJ architect Jurga Marcinauskaitė.
The BSV headmaster had full confidence in Villeroy&Boch as a well-known and experienced manufacturer of toilet facilities, so that there was no doubt whatsoever about the quality of the products. Villeroy&Boch was the only supplier whose products met the BSV criteria: inspiring design, child-friendly, stylish and easy-care. So all in all, the style of the O.Novo Kids collection fits perfectly with the concept of the school.
