MAGGIORI INFORMAZIONI SU RUD. RASMUSSEN
Since 1869, Rud. Rasmussen, Denmark’s oldest cabinetmaking workshop, has combined centuries-old traditions and modern techniques to create exceptional furniture.
Rud. Rasmussen has always pursued an uncompromising approach to classic furniture craftsmanship with the aim of creating furniture masterworks of unique quality.
For over 145 years, the company has taken pride in the close collaboration between its cabinetmakers and some of Denmark's most visionary designers, including Kaare Klint, Mogens Koch and Poul Kjærholm.
The company was acquired by Carl Hansen & Son in 2011.
Rud. Rasmussen has opened a new shop at Bredgade, as part of the attractive district surrounding Amalienborg Palace. The Rud. Rasmussen shop is ideally located alongside the Carl Hansen & Søn flagship store and opposite the Rud. Rasmussen Gallery.
The new shop gives Rud. Rasmussen a larger display window for presenting our exclusive furniture design and thus creating a genuine design hub offering a gallery, a flagship store and a shop at 18, 21 and 23 Bredgade. Known for its abundant architectural gems, galleries, art and antique furniture dealers, the district is the ideal location for Rud. Rasmussen's design universe. The new Rud. Rasmussen shop also represents our exclusive furniture design to the many internationally oriented design and art enthusiasts drawn to Bredgade.
Carl Hansen & Søn acquired Rud. Rasmussen in December 2011 with the goal of preserving Danish design classics and distributing them to a larger international market. Rud. Rasmussen has seen a strong increase in demand in recent years. However, capacity in the old four-story building in the borough of Nørrebro hampers the implementation of efficient production methods that the company's business goals and rising demand call for. The only solution is a larger and more modern site, so production will be brought together in Carl Hansen & Søn's facilities in the city of Gelsted on the Danish island of Funen, where iconic furniture designs created by some of Denmark's greatest designers - such as Hans J. Wegner, Frits Henningsen and Ole Wanscher - are produced today.
We are moving production to Gelsted to ensure that the Rud. Rasmussen collection continues to be produced in Denmark as well as to strengthen the business and ensure that these design classics reach a steadily growing international market. The physical location is new, but we will continue to offer the same masterful quality and design that Kaare Klint, Mogens Koch and Poul Kjærholm have always stood for.
The Rud. Rasmussen Gallery at 18 Bredgade will also eventually feature exciting displays involving both the Carl Hansen & Søn and Rud. Rasmussen collections. Both brands are rooted in renowned traditions of craftsmanship and quality, and the aim is for customers and design enthusiasts to be able to experience the craftsmanship behind the furniture designs in a vibrant and appealing way.
