×An increasing number of studies are proving what designers have long known: that the design of a space can affect both the mood and health of its occupants. This idea is explicitly expressed in spas and wellness centres, where a relaxing environment is crucial. But these interiors also present designers with significant challenges as materials must offer aesthetic value and be able to withstand heavy use, humidity and oil without compromising on safety.
Italian ceramics brand Atlas Concorde has developed a range of flexible wall and flooring solutions that rise to this challenge, combining contemporary style with high-performance, hygienic surfaces and a non-slip finish.
As well as creating an attractive interior, maintenance and safety are major issues in spa design. Brave provides tactile and non-slip surfaces that are perfect for this environment

×To recreate the look and feel of natural materials without the associated maintenance issues, Atlas Concorde has developed a variety of ranges that are ideal for use in these scenarios. Among them are the Etic Pro range, which offers a wood effect that introduces tactility, mimicking the irregularities of the material and recreating the natural knots and whirls without the issues sometimes associated with natural materials. Meanwhile, the Brave range recreates the luxurious effect of natural stone down to the tiniest of details, and can be customised with inserts in contrasting and complementary materials.
The three-dimensional 3D Wall Design collection can also be used to introduce unexpected tactility, and the 3D Wind texture is particularly suited to relaxing spaces, with a sinuous pattern that casts gentle shadows.

דWhile ‘relax’ is the key word in these settings, they can be styled in a wide selection of options, from a minimal to a natural effect and even in a forceful or distinctly tactile style,” says Atlas Concorde’s Marketing Director Fabrizio Storchi. “Projects to design spaces dedicated to wellness can include different yet complementary collections, creating a new and highly versatile code that can fully express the ideas in the minds of architects and designers.”
