×In 1896, Adolf Lamprecht founded an enamelling and die-cutting works in Penig, Saxony, thus laying the foundations for the company that today trades under the acronym "Alape". Since relocating in 1954, Alape has been producing individual washplace solutions for private and semi-public spaces in Goslar, Lower Saxony. Its success is founded on its glazed steel washbasins and washstands, as well as on a unique symbiosis of craftsmanship and technology within the manufacturing process.

×The traditional usage of glazed steel permits the creative scope necessary to bring out the salience of the products' form and diversity to the full. And it is precisely the properties of the material, the precision of the craftsmanship and the spirit of innovation at the Goslar company that have had such an enduring impact on bathroom architecture. In the early 1930s, for instance, Alape developed the bucket sink, a classic for the utility room and garden that is still being produced today. It also developed the first built-in basin in the 1970s, as well as the first floor-standing washstands. Since the 1980s, the company has been collaborating with renowned designers and architects to create individual product and room concepts that have won multiple national and international design awards.

×Right from the start, the craftsmanship of the highly skilled employees, together with their experience and feel for the materials, have played a crucial role in the quality of the products. Combined with modern, fully automated technologies, it is this that gives rise to the precise and clear-cut forms that make Alape's purist design so distinctive.
Complementing the washbasins and washstands with furniture, mirrors and lamps – likewise produced on site by the company's skilled craftsmen – creates even greater scope and allows customers to plan individual washplace solutions from one and the same provider. DD
