A cross section of art, architecture, and design from Brooklyn’s finest featuring inspiring exhibits, interactive installations, a shoppable marketplace, workshops, demos, and talks from prominent designers & design thinkers.
This weekend from May 5-7, BKLYN DESIGNS kicks off the first weekend of the citywide NYCxDESIGN initiative at the spacious and light-filled Brooklyn Expo Center in the creative hub of Greenpoint. Interactive installations, design service providers, pop-up shops, live demos, workshops, panel discussions, local vendors, and kid-friendly programming makes the show a must-attend event for trade professionals and design lovers of all ages. Founded by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce in 2003, the show serves as an incubator for emerging designers as well as a platform for established brands producing a range of creative products across furniture, lighting, tableware, art, textiles, and jewelry.

×Brooklyn is world-renowned for its community of talented woodworkers, which can be seen in native New Yorkers such as Mark Jupiter, a fourth generation woodworker, as well as recent arrivals like Christopher White who studied woodworking in Bordeaux and the Basque Country. The show attracts people with an entrepreneurial spirit, evident in the many trained architects and designers who have crossed over into product design such as Roberto Gil of Casa Kids and Hannah Getachew of Bolé Road Textiles, as well as design and architecture firms launching new product lines such as OT/TRA, Think Fabricate and MK Workshop.
In addition to design products and services, a wide range of pop-ups, lounges, and installations will keep attendees busy throughout their visit. Layered Fragments, designed by Brooklyn-based architect by Jieun Yang, is an interactive, transient experience that challenges the notion of fragments as separation by highlighting moments of visual and tactile connections. Bolstering the show’s family-friendly vibe, Imagination Playground, a breakthrough playspace concept conceived and designed by architect David Rockwell, will encourage child-directed, unstructured free play.
