The Dutch manufacturer has been committed to sustainability in design since day one – and paved the way for innovation in the field with a surprisingly soft material.

×Established in Arnhem, the Netherlands, just over a decade ago, De Vorm creates furniture and fittings for the truly modern office. That means no standardised desks or over-engineered task chairs but the durable, customisable, flexible multi-purpose essentials of a creative workspace.
De Vorm has also been committed to sustainable manufacturing from birth, pioneering the use of PET Felt – made using recycled plastic bottles – in furniture design. Its breakthrough product – the Pod Privacy Chair, designed by the then up-and-coming Benjamin Hubert – alerted the world not just to the potential of De Vorm but to PET Felt as a material that could be used to create radical new forms. If you knew how to handle it.

×De Vorm learned how to work with PET Felt through trial and error. The furniture maker now works with local manufacturers to create new moulded PET Felt forms that are durable, flexible, beautiful but also more sustainable and affordable. It is also now using up to 95% recycled ‘circular aluminium’ which is produced locally using renewable energy.
The Pod Privacy Chair is just one of the pieces that benefits from this innovative material – and its release signaled a breakthrough that firmly established De Vorm as a forward thinker in furniture design.

×Of course, De Vorm offers clients more than a clearer conscience. All designs are available in a wide range of colours and materials and everything that goes into a De Vorm design is custom made in Western Europe and assembled at its new Duiven HQ.
