Supporting research in this segment is an important focus for the company. Cooperations with innovative partners are of great importance and bring advantages for all parties involved. In 2017, VARIO planned high-quality office furniture for the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT in St. Augustin near Bonn. At Schloss Birlinghoven, several double workplaces, a multifunctional middle zone and a so-called “marketplace” were created for the scientists of the Fraunhofer FIT.

The Icon four-legged table range enables the straightforward creation of large double and group workplaces as well as larger conference facilities. The workplace system, designed by Klaus Michel as far back as 2003, was a milestone in the company’s product development and won the Red Dot Design Award. The stacking box systems M1 and M1.1 offer flexible storage space in the office environment. In addition, they enable the clear structuring of open spaces. The Versa H MiniCaddy not only serves as a mobile storage space in the office, but can also be used as a temporary seat with cushions. With a foldable bow-type handle, it transforms itself into a mini-transporter.

The Conclusion Lounge, with its high-quality, shielding upholstery, is intended to be a retreat area within modern-day offices. When used in the middle zone, the seating group with its high wall structures creates its own space for concentrated working and discreet conversations. The visually and haptically soft Pet Port felt surfaces serve both to shield and absorb office noise and ensure a pleasant atmosphere. The PetPort privacy screens can also be combined with all VARIO table systems.
