×For 200 years, the St Gallen-based textile manufacturer Fischbacher 1819 has stood for continuity, creativity and innovation. Passing on its know-how from generation to generation, the ideas that drive the brand have grown and, jointly with its partner companies, it has united traditional craft with advanced technology. This setting has spawned a new product that perfectly complements the BENU collection while opening new perspectives in the use of fabrics: the velvet BENU Talent FR. This new textile will be available beginning this Summer.
PET bottles form the basis for the flame-retardant and outdoor-suitable fabric, which as a sophisticated velvet made of recycled material, knows how to combine a stylistic revival with a sustainable future

×Artfully crafted
Originating from the BENU family of fabrics made from recycled PET bottles and old textiles, the new series member introduces the exceptional upholstery and curtains to outdoor use. The basis is formed by filament pile yarns from the Perpetual series, for which PET bottles are depolymerized and spun anew as "virgin PES". These filaments are particularly soft and require a specially developed production process. The characteristic softness of the velvet surface is achieved using a third thread system, the pile. This W-shaped thread system winds its way between two fabrics and is cut precisely in the middle by a very sharp knife while still on the loom. The fabric must then be dyed in special machines and treated with brushes and heat. BENU Talent impresses not only with its sumptuous drape, but thanks to its special finishing, it is flame-retardant and has a high light fastness thus suitable for contract and outdoor use.
Multitalented
With 30 colours, BENU Talent FR velvet offers a multitude of possibilities. The ecologically conscious textile innovation makes a strong statement on sustainability, taking up the fight against the rising numbers of discarded plastic bottles, by giving them a second, meaningful life. At the same time this contemporary velvet, which is equally suited for both contract and residential use, also stirs a feeling of nostalgia and captivates the senses with its shimmering depth of colour and pleasing pile.
