×As spring turns to summer in the northern hemisphere, temperatures are rising, evenings are growing longer, and thoughts are turning to spending more time outdoors. In recent years, MDF Italia has developed outdoor versions of several of its iconic products for use on terraces, patios, balconies and gardens, allowing clients in both the residential and commercial sectors to create stylish spaces for al fresco entertaining.
MDF Italia’s outdoor catalogue contains items that retain the company’s distinctive design DNA, with a focus on lightness, elegance and functionality. Neil Twist, for example, is the outdoor version of the classic chair designed by Jean Marie Massaud. The chair’s minimal metal frame is wrapped with braided cord that creates a comfortable seat. Massaud’s Rock Table is also available in green, terracotta or white cement options that are suitable for outdoor use. The tabletop appears to float above a solid cement base, creating a sense of lightness that belies its strength.

×Innovation and elegance
A special version of the classic Tense table offers an alternative option for dining outside. The minimal design by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga and Michele Cazzaniga is a superb feat of engineering that uses a technically innovative panel construction to create a tabletop of remarkable thinness. The outdoor option is available in a range of finishes including white Calce stone and black slate that introduce natural texture to the surfaces.
The Arpa collection designed by Ramón Esteve Estudio provides a timeless and elegant seating solution for exterior lounge areas. The sofa and armchair feature cushions supported by strands of rope, which lend the pieces a light and delicate appearance. The design is inspired by a harp and is simplified so it can be made using the fewest possible elements.

×Indoor style outside
The pared-back, minimal style of these products makes them instantly identifiable as belonging to the MDF Italia family. The key difference is the application of resistant yet refined materials that ensure they will withstand the elements and can be used year round. Whether placed on a city balcony or a seaside terrace, MDF Italia’s outdoor products are designed to make these increasingly important spaces look as stylish and sophisticated as their indoor counterparts.
