Comic artist Vittorio Giardino’s latest designs for Tecnografica’s ‘Art Collections’ series of graphic wallpaper artworks deliver more than a powerful visual impact, they’re also sound-absorbing, waterproof and 100 per cent sustainable.

×To move art beyond the confines of a frame, Italian design brand Tecnografica suggests instead that walls should become canvases. Putting creativity into the hands of the designer, Tecnografica’s wallpapers give authentic artworks new scale, depth and dimensions in space – encouraging total creative immersion and escapism.
For its special ‘Art Collections’ series, Tecnografica works directly with artists to develop the most authentic experience of art on wallpaper. Take the latest collection, which profiles Vittorio Giardino, the Italian master comic designer known for his expressive graphic style. Seen unfolding across a wall through space, his colourful, dramatic and dynamic drawings become scenes that are quite literally larger than life.

×The ‘Art Collections’ series holds particular appeal for projects seeking a unique and unexpected concept. What could be more captivating than stepping inside the creative world of an artist: ‘At this historical moment, when we have spent more time between our four walls than ever before, the panoramic stories and vivid characters of Vittorio Giardino’s drawings guarantee a “wow factor” in any space from a home office to a hotel,’ says Stefano Lamberti, Head of Sales and Marketing at Tecnografica.
‘The creativity of our designers is mixed with the environmental sensitivity that is required today, which leads us to make maximum efforts against pollutants’
The quality of Tecnografica's products and finishes ensure that the vivid colours and lines of Giardino’s work are translated with precision and flair. While the wallpaper and wall coverings brand was founded in 2014 and maintains the reactiveness of a new brand, it also benefits from the established expertise of its parent company Tecnografica S.p.A, a leader in the creation of graphic designs for tiles established in 1992.
Combining craftsmanship, modern technology and Italian design, Tecnografica’s cutting-edge digital printing translates original artworks to wallpaper with confidence: ‘Unlike many of our competitors, we can boast the craftsmanship of our designs – in fact, many of our graphic designs are drawn or painted by hand and scanned at very high resolution to become spectacular full-wall designs.’

×Unlike a piece of art, Tecnografica’s wallpaper can be fully customised in dimensions, material and finish. Whether the finish needs to be sound-absorbing, water-proof or 100 per cent sustainable, wallpaper can be efficiently refined with the in-house service.
Moreover, ‘We understood that interior design professionals need tools that are accessible and quickly retrievable. That’s why we created the Download Area on our site, a space where architects and designers can register for free and download all our designs to include them in their projects. And our products are also available in the BIM format,’ says Lamberti.
Beyond the wallpaper’s design, its production, delivery, and installation are also made simple by Tecnografica: ‘The production process is managed entirely within the company – from the idea of the design to the shipment of the product and, when possible, to the installation of the wallpaper itself. This allows us to easily adapt designs and present ourselves as extremely flexible collaborators even for larger projects, for example, hotels.’
In addition to the high quality printing of Giardino’s linear and defined strokes, Tecnografica’s wallpapers are also versatile, practical and sustainable

×As well as being adaptive to interior environments, Tecnografica has responded to the design world’s need to be more environmentally-friendly. ‘Sustainability is an increasingly discussed topic at Tecnografica, and now we have the Natural Finish suited for eco-minded projects. It is free of PVC and solvents, composed of special cellulose and textile fibres, and printed with water-based inks,’ says Lamberti.
‘Today, representing the highest quality of Italian design means having respect for the environment and human health. The creativity of our designers thus mixes with the environmental sensitivity that is necessary now more than ever, which pushes Tecnografica to dedicate the maximum effort against pollutants, to eliminating harmful emissions for health and ensuring healthy spaces in which to live and work,’ he concludes.
