LM92T | Metropolitan Chair

Armchairs from Carl Hansen & Søn, Designed by Ejner Larsen, Aksel Bender-Madsen

Product description

The LM92T Metropolitan Chair, designed by Ejner Larsen and Aksel Bender Madsen, was first shown at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition in 1949. The Metropolitan Chair combines wood and leather beautifully.

Production of the LM92T Metropolitan Chair by Ejner Larsen and Aksel Bender Madsen started in 1950. The chair’s big breakthrough, however, came in 1960 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where the best of Danish design and culture were showcased in an exhibition titled “The Arts of Denmark”. The design then earned the great honor of being called the “Metropolitan Chair.”

The result of many late-night work sessions, the Metropolitan Chair is distinguished by a chair back and armrest crafted from a single piece of veneer. The considered design results in excellent seating comfort for a variety of functions – the Metropolitan Chair can be used as a conference, dining or desk chair.

The Metropolitan Chair is available in natural oak or walnut in two variants: the LM92T Metropolitan Chair with a leather-upholstered seat and an exposed veneer back, and the LM92P Metropolitan Chair which is fully upholstered in luxurious saddle leather.
