547 Vase à fleurs échancré

Vases from Cassina, Designed by Charlotte Perriand

Product description

Between 1940 and 1942, Charlotte Perriand was active in Japan, tasked by the former Ministry of Commerce and Industry with defining the new orientations and strategies to impart to industrial production in the Land of the Rising Sun. The Vase à fleurs échancré dates back to this creative period that saw the pioneer of modernity engaged in an exchange of views with the Asian artisan tradition and its key players. The vase is a sculptural creation in mould-blown glass, reprocessed by hand, a technique that makes each piece unique and one-of-a-kind. The deliberately uneven shape, soft texture of the surface and bold thickness of the rounded border emphasize the substance and texture of the object.
