Concept
J48 Chair by Poul M. Volther
FDB Møbler is pleased to relaunch this classic chair, designed by Poul M. Volther. Designed in 1951, it has since become one of the most popular dining table chairs from FDB Møbler's unique furniture series.
• Made of solid oak
• Designed in 1951
• Black leather or anthracite fabric seat
This chair has a distinctive rounded design with separate back pieces, recognizable to those familiar with the Corona chair. It is made of solid oak.
The J48 is an obvious choice for use at a larger dining table where you want to fit in more places but maintain good comfort.
From the Designer of the Corona Chair
In 1950, Poul M. Volther took over the job as design supervisor for FDB Møbler after Børge Mogensen. Like his predecessor, he concentrated on a simple design language and a high degree of functionality.
This approach produced, among other items, the unique J48, whose pleasing aesthetic can find a place in any home – an appealing combination of perfect design sense and good seating comfort. The J48's distinctive back style was later incorporated into the famous Corona chair, which became one of Volther's most popular creations.
Materials and production
The back, legs, and base are of solid black-lacquered oak, FSC certified from European forests.
Note: Wood is a natural material, and slight differences in appearance can occur, even small variations in the same piece of furniture.
This chair is adapted and adjusted to present-day sizes and seating comfort.
The leather is full grain and durable, and highly fade resistant. It is extremely soft and supple – and very comfortable for sitting.
Maintenance
Wipe the J48 with a clean, barely damp cloth.
