Bowl dark berry
Concept
As the name of this collection suggests, SOLITAIRE promises fascinating, unique products in the highest possible quality. The intricate crystalline glaze makes each exclusive vase, bowl and plate one of a kind. This extraordinary glazing technique is over 1,000 years old and dates back to the Song Dynasty (960–1279). FÜRSTENBERG brings this historic technique back to life in the SOLITAIRE collection with a new interpretation of this traditional handicraft. With the secret formulation and passion to create the extraordinary, each masterpiece in the SOLITAIRE collection is – and will always be – unique. Thanks to this unusual glazing technique, it is impossible to create an exact replica of any piece. SOLITAIRE offers exceptional objects that are both personal and perfect.
SOLITAIRE EDITION KOLLHOFF
For FÜRSTENBERG, the star architect Professor Hans Kollhoff has created a vase that is ideally suited for special treatment with the intricate crystal glazing technique that characterises the SOLITAIRE collection. This vase is now being offered in an exclusive limited edition. Silicates and oxides give the pieces in the SOLITAIRE collection their unmistakable appearance. Each object is unique, and uniquely elegant. Once the glaze compound has been applied and the piece has been placed in the kiln, there is no way to know waht shape teh crystals will take as they form during the hours-long firing process. Sometimes they evoke associations with asian ceramic art. At any rate, the size and distribution of the crystals is the result of a process that proceeds more or less randomly, and which can only be influenced to a limited degree.
