HIRAM Habitat specializes in Silver Fir, a versatile rarity from the Black Forest. This traditional wood has been used for centuries and now finds its place in modern, sustainable architecture. With its light fir wood and fine texture, Silver Fir provides a subtle foundation for sustainable, natural, and functional designs.

The light fir wood creates an exceptionally noble and serene room atmosphere. The strength of the finely grained wood can be influenced by surface treatments. Brushing accentuates its features, giving the natural floor a rustic look. When white oiled or lye-treated, the result is a light, airy floorboard.

With our headquarters in the Black Forest, HIRAM Habitat benefits from short transportation routes for local Silver Fir wood. Sourcing wood through our own roundwood trade has allowed us to specialize in Silver Fir and develop a deep understanding of this regional tree species. We begin pruning the finest Silver Firs early on, ensuring exceptionally high wood quality and a particularly long lifespan for our Silver Fir planks.

Every single HIRAM Habitat Silver fir plank is crafted in local workshops or artisanal factories. After production, we carefully select the planks for our two grades URBAN Classic and COUNTRY Classic.

Our URBAN Classic grading features only a few small knots and a fine-grained structure. The room effect is calm and elegant.

Our COUNTRY Classic grading has a lively warm wood structure with securely glued and filled knots and hair cracks. They create a cozy and characterful atmosphere in the room.
