JK-09 Wing-back Chair
Armchairs from Kitani, Designed by Jacob Kjær
Product description
The wing-bag chair has its origin in a form designed in the mid-17th century. It is believed to be a precursor of the grandfather chair, which appeared in the 18th century. More than 90% of this chair is made up of natural materials, retaining the body heat of a person who sits on the chair; it is cool to sit in summer and warm in winter. With extended wings from the arms on both sides gently supporting your head, this product enriches your time in modern life as a chair suitable for a nap. The base of its cushion body consists of coil springs and natural materials, making this chair the only equivalent to the “Bear Chair”, which has been reproduced in Denmark. Two craftsmen, a woodworker and an upholsterer, engage in production to the finish. This is the chair of the highest grade among Kitani’s licensed products.

Jacob Kjær(1896-1957)
After receiving training in the workshop of his father, who was a furniture maker, Jacob Kjar went to places like Berlin and Paris for further training. As a Snedkermester, he exhibited his works in Barcelona World Expo in 1929 and other events, and won many awards as well. Most of his works are characterized by simplicity in design, but, if you look closer, you will notice that their details are elaborately worked out to a surprising degree. He was a first-class furniture maker who made no compromise in his selection of materials, fabrication, structure, and working process.
Chairs of Jacob Kjær have exellent design made possible by his knowkadge & skills as furniture maker. He used only the finest materials including animal hair in his upholstery. Combined with carefull hand crafting, furniture of the highest quality was produced.
