The Bund Chair by Neri&Hu was designed for the renovation of the Jean George Restaurant, the epitome of French fine-dining located on the Bund in Shanghai. The roaring Shanghai of the 1920’s is symbolized by the Bund’s glorious past, and the chair’s design inspiration, as with the interior architecture of the restaurant, is a graceful modern articulation of the art-deco memory from the Bund’s post-colonial history.
