Product description
Decay Edge is a combination of a compost bin and a planter. It makes it possible to create living microhabitats by combining elements such as stone, wood, organic materials, soil, plants, and water. This is how you create an environment where small creatures can live, hide, and find food. The system is available in a number of different sizes and shapes so that it’s easy to adapt to various surroundings.
Concept
Urban parks and green spaces represent important nature types, and Vestre is investigating how we can achieve greater biodiversity in urban areas through smart furniture design and vegetation. That's why we’ve created Vestre Habitats. A million species of animals, plants and fungi are now threatened with extinction. Biodiversity is important for all life on earth because it contributes to stable ecosystems. Natural diversity can be preserved through more knowledge and protection. We want to work to increase knowledge and awareness as well as reverse this negative trend with our contribution: functional and smart design furniture which protects natural processes such as decompositoon. An apparently lifeless log can hide a teeming universe of microscopic species and habitats.
