Concept
“In our design language, we love to use elementary geometric shapes and volumes, which interact and come together to create complex shapes. The Bol table is just an example of this process, generating a product with a precise and impressive shape.” Zaven - Marco Zavagno and Enrica Cavarzan
Starting with the drawing of a round table with a central leg, the designers developed the concept of modularity to put together a collection that includes 3 tables with a round table top - 135 , 160 and 180 cm in diameter - and two oval tables with a 230 and a 260 cm table top.
The focus of the design lies in the structural base, which is conceived as a module to be used individually or in multiple compositions with two asymmetrical legs: a cylinder, taken from a small portion of the perimeter, is used to create a leg with an understated yet striking shape, with recognisable styling yet functional to the development of an entire collection. Indeed, the leg can be used alone, where the table top dimensions allow it, or together with another to add greater stability to the table top. The second base is created by combining two or more modules together, striking an asymmetrical visual balance.
The project is completed by the careful choice of colours, with contemporary hues such as talcum powder, caramel and seaweed green, and the finishes: the MDF table top is always matt, while the rigid polyurethane base, in addition to matt lacquered, can also be ordered in glossy or metallic lacquered in the same colour as the table top, to create a contrast and allow light to play on the surfaces, generating mesmerising shadows and reflections. This makes the table appear different depending on the observation point and on its interaction with light.
